Who are we?
Keihatsu Aikido Club
has its foundations over 25 years ago and offers training for adults and
juniors in Milton
Keynes. Classes are open to all (Juniors 6 to 14 years, Seniors 16+)
and students do not need to be physically fit. Disability may not be a
handicap to practice and all students can actively train in Aikido from
the first lesson.

The
club's 2nd Dan black-belt Chief Instructor, Marianne Crisp, has been
training in Aikido for over twenty-five years, and teaching for over
fifteen years. Marianne trained extensively in Karate before turning to Aikido.
She is assisted by our other black-belt instructors, 2nd Dan, Mike Mitchell and Kevan Poundes, plus 1st Dan, Catherine Hoskin,
Matt Hoare and Mo Haynes. All instructors are registered with the
British Aikido Board, the British
governing body for Aikido, through membership of the
Yama Arashi (UK) Association,
whose parent-association is based in Belgium. The Chief Instructor of
the Yama Arashi (UK) Association is Sensei Barbara Moss, 5th Dan, who is
based at the Phoenix Aikido Club in Coventry. Yama Arashi UK currently
boasts a membership, including affiliated clubs such as Milton Keynes,
of over 500 students.
Costs
These currently run at £19 annually for club membership and an
additional £15 for yearly membership of Yama Arashi Association, with £6 annually for insurance purposes. Juniors, Students and Unwaged
participants have a lower cost of £14 annually for club membership. Each
training-session costs £3.50 for juniors and £4 for seniors; there is an
monthly membership available at a discount. The white (karate-type)
suits cost around £16. In the Yama Arashi Association, as in many
others, the Hakama (baggy black overtrousers) is only worn by Dan grades
(Black belts).
Curious?
If you are curious about Aikido, you are more than welcome to come along
and watch, to ask questions, or indeed, to step on to the mat for the
first time. Remember, everyone you see out there was a beginner once.
